Culinary Students Cater to "Brides"


Students from Ivy Tech's culinary program displayed their talents last week with a variety of wedding cakes. Each year, faculty and staff members volunteer as brides and grooms and are partnered with a student in the Wedding Cake Production class. The brides and grooms bring in pictures of a cake that they like, and get to choose the cake flavor and icing. Nine days later, the volunteers return to the culinary department to see what the students have created.


This year eight students created cakes in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. From red velvet, chocolate, yellow, sachertorte, and gluten-free cakes to buttercream icing, fondant, and a chocolate lightning bolt, the skills and creativity of these bakers was absolutely incredible. After admiring the varied creations, everyone had a chance to taste each cake. Congratulations to all of these students on their amazing cakes!
